Is there a way to recover data from faulty sd card? plese help!!?

My camera is a fujifilm finepix, contains a 4gb SDHC card.
The problem is I can’t acess the photos from the camera. I keep getting the error message.
I tried searching for recovery software and found loads of good stuff. The sd card can’t be found on my computer, there is a drive called "REMOVABLE DISK" thats my card reader, recently bought and supports both SD and SDHC.
Overall i know my SD card is faulty. Is there a way to recover the data?
PS Camera R your suggestions are good but it doesn’t work on mine. Something about the media not found within the drive.
To Ariel Mars. thats one of the main problems. No matter what i do computers won’t recognised it. It just shows a "removable disk" which takes a while to load.
